Who we are
Fairstride ("we") makes apps for Shopify merchants. Fairstride Product Quiz lets a store run a product-recommendation quiz on its storefront. Contact: hello@fairstride.app.
What the app stores
- Store information: your store's domain, the app session Shopify issues, your plan, and billing records (which plan, when it changed). We never see or store payment card details; Shopify processes all payments.
- Quiz content: the questions, answers, rules, and settings you create.
- Shopper responses: the answers a shopper picks, which products were shown, and, only if the quiz asks for it and the shopper provides it, an email address. If the merchant enables an email integration, we also store the shopper's consent decision, the exact consent text, and when and where consent was recorded. Responses belong to the merchant.
- Aggregate counters: quiz views, starts, and completions per day, used for your dashboard and plan limits.
- Optional revenue attribution: if a merchant enables Revenue Attribution, we store the quiz and response relationship, an opaque token hash, Shopify order and line-item IDs, matched product IDs, order and payment-state timestamps, shop currency, and matched-product amounts after discounts and returns. For attribution we do not request or store customer name, email, phone, billing or shipping address, customer ID, payment method, raw Web Pixel payloads, or a full order payload.
- Notification email: an email address you optionally set to receive new-response notifications.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not track shoppers across stores or build shopper profiles.
- The storefront quiz does not set tracking cookies. If a merchant enables optional Revenue Attribution and Shopify permits analytics processing, Fairstride's app-owned Web Pixel stores one opaque token in browser storage for up to seven days. The token contains no shopper, quiz, product, or order data.
Where data lives
App data is hosted on Render (United States) in a managed PostgreSQL database. Transactional email (for example, new-response notifications) is sent through Resend. Shopify provides the platform the app runs on. These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
Optional Klaviyo integration
A merchant can choose to connect Fairstride to the merchant's own Klaviyo account. The integration is optional and is not active unless the merchant configures it for a quiz.
When the shopper explicitly agrees to the quiz's unchecked email-marketing consent request, Fairstride sends the shopper's email address, answer path, recommended products, and the consent timestamp and source to the list the merchant selected in Klaviyo. Fairstride does not bundle this consent with access to quiz results.
Fairstride keeps a bounded delivery snapshot only while it is needed for delivery and retry, then clears that payload and the Klaviyo profile identifier when processing reaches a terminal state or is cancelled. Non-personal delivery status, timestamps, attempt counts, and normalized diagnostic codes may be retained for up to 90 days for merchant support.
Disconnecting Klaviyo stops new transfers, cancels local pending work, and removes the merchant's Klaviyo credentials from Fairstride. It does not delete data already stored in the merchant's Klaviyo account. The merchant's policies and Klaviyo's policies govern destination-side retention, campaigns, suppression, access, and deletion.
Optional Revenue Attribution
A merchant can choose to enable Revenue Attribution. The feature uses an app-owned Shopify Web Pixel under Shopify's analytics-consent controls. It can link the latest trackable quiz completion in the same browser to one eligible Shopify order placed within seven days. If Shopify does not permit analytics processing, the shopper changes browser or device, or browser storage is cleared, the purchase is not attributed.
The browser sends only an opaque attribution token and the Shopify order ID. Fairstride derives the shop, quiz, response, recommended products, and expiry from the server-held token hash, then fetches the authoritative order through Shopify's Admin GraphQL API. We use order and line-item IDs, product IDs, test status, order and cancellation timestamps, financial status, shop currency, and matched-product amounts after discounts and returns. We do not use customer name, email, phone, billing or shipping address, customer ID, payment method, or a full order payload for attribution.
The browser token expires after seven days. Fairstride erases its token hash on use, invalidation, or expiry. A pending authoritative order check is kept for no more than 24 hours. Verified attribution details and de-identified trackable-completion markers are kept for no more than 60 days from order creation. Minute-scoped rate-limit keys and counts are kept for no more than one hour. Revenue Attribution is reporting only and is not used for advertising, cross-store tracking, shopper profiling, eligibility decisions, or automated pricing.
Data deletion
- Shopper requests: when Shopify sends us a customer data request or redaction request on a merchant's behalf, we fulfill it within Shopify's required window. Redaction removes the shopper's email and consent evidence from stored responses and clears local Klaviyo delivery payloads and profile identifiers. Revenue Attribution export or redaction uses only the exact Shopify order IDs in the signed request and never matches attribution records to a customer identity. The merchant handles any deletion required inside the merchant's own Klaviyo account.
- Uninstalling: when a store uninstalls the app, Shopify sends a shop redaction request 48 hours later and we delete the store's quizzes and responses. Billing records are retained as required to honor purchases (for example, a Founder Lifetime purchase is honored if you reinstall).
- On request: email hello@fairstride.app and we will delete your data within 30 days.
